Newtown Parks & Recreation has announced that Eichler's Cove Beach is closed for the day.

An email issued just before 10 am this morning indicates "due to algae, the beach will be closed, there will be no swimming at the beach. It will reopen once conditions improve."

There will be no lifeguards on duty at the Town-owned location at the end of Old Bridge Road.

Residents and those holding day passes are encouraged to visit Treadwell Pool, within Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road.
