Gaetan Lariviere, age 77, of Sandy Hook, passed peacefully on July 25, surrounded by his family, in a room filled with love. Gaetan was born on June 25, 1944, to Exilias and Eleonore Lariviere, in St Zacharie, Canada.

He immigrated to the United States at 16 years old, where he met his wife of 49 years, the late Carole Lariviere. Together, they built a successful construction company, Imperial Construction, in Danbury. Gaetan was happiest when he was camping with his grandchildren, on a boat fishing with friends, visiting with family, or tending to his garden with his dog, Suki, by his side.

Gaetan is survived by his two daughters, Erica Lawrence and Tina Capellini; his sons-in-law, Mark Lawrence and Christopher Capellini; and his four grandchildren, Bryan Lawrence, Anna Lawrence, Emilia Capellini, and Julia Capellini, all of Southbury.

Visitation will be at Honan Funeral Home in Newtown on Monday, August 2, from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown on Tuesday, August 3, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in St Rose Cemetery. For the livestream, please go to strosechurch.com and click on "Voice of St Rose" at the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
