With the launch last week of The Connecticut Elder Justice Hotline, Newtown Bee readers are reminded that Newtown has multiple local resources also in place.

Elder justice issues can range from age-based discrimination in the workplace to scams and frauds, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

In an emergency, call 911.

LOCAL RESOURCES

Newtown Center for Support and Wellness (28 Trades Lane): 203-270-4612 or newtowncsw.org

Newtown Police Department (191 South Main Street): call 203-426-5841 for non-emergency

Newtown Senior Center (8 Simpson Street): 203-270-4315

Newtown Social Services: 203-270-4330

STATEWIDE

Elder Justice Hotline: 860-808-5555 or portal.ct.gov/ag/elderhotline

Reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation received through the hotline will be referred to the Protective Services for the Elderly program of the Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS social workers investigate reports of elder maltreatment and neglect, including self-neglect, and intervene with services and connections to community partners.
