Nature Awareness For Young People

WOODBURY — Two Coyotes Wilderness School will be offering its 30-week home-school program at Flanders Nature Center beginning in September.

The program is a nature awareness experience designed to help young people gain a deep appreciation for nature as well as an attitude of ease and understanding in the outdoors.

Students will explore the local environment and develop a deep understanding of local ecosystems.  The whispering trees, bird songs, and animal tracks all have things to teach if we look closely.

Nature is a book of mysteries just waiting to be discovered and read. Through observation and journaling, participants will learn to understand many of the subtle voices of the forest.

Students will learn not only to observe nature, but to be an active participant in the unfolding story. Essential earth living skills such as fire-by-friction, shelter construction, finding water, and navigation techniques will enable participants to feel secure in the woods.

Two Coyotes Wilderness School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reconnecting people of all ages with their local environment. Contact the school at 860-927-4870 or Flanders Nature Center at 203-263-3711.
