David R. Loveland, 74, of Chester, Vt., died July 27 at Springfield Hospital in Vermont. Born in Danbury, he was the first child of Jean (Rice) and Harold Loveland of Monroe.

His wife of 52 years, Joy; siblings Edwin Loveland of Newtown, Susan Cragin of South Windsor, Laurie Loveland of Sudbury, Vt., and Wendy Loveland of Wilmington, N.C., as well as five nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and -nephews survive him.

Mr Loveland grew up in Monroe and was in the first graduating class of Masuk High School. He worked for several utility companies in Connecticut and in Vermont. He enjoyed kayaking, auto races, and watching football and baseball.

There will be a graveside service in Chester this fall.
