The dispatchers at the Newtown Emergency Communications Center, at 191 South Main Street, report the following fire calls and the responders:

Wednesday, July 21: 11:24 am, medical assist, Nunnawauk Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 4:34 pm, CO alarm, Bishop Circle, Sandy Hook responded; 5:53 pm, medical assist, Joal Court, Hawleyville responded; 6:03 pm, medical assist, Brushy Hill Road, Botsford responded.

Thursday, July 22: 12:03 am, fire alarm–commercial, Toddy Hill Road, Botsford, Hook & Ladder, and Sandy Hook responded.

Friday, July 23: 3:46 pm, tree/wires down, Hattertown Road/Castle Meadow Road, Dodgingtown responded; 9:51 pm, smoke/odor investigation, Castle Hill Road, Hook & Ladder responded.

Saturday, July 24: 3:02 pm, motor vehicle accident (MVA) with injury, I-84 East between Exits 9-10, Hawleyville responded; 7:49 pm, medical assist, Brookside Court, Hawleyville responded; 8:22 pm, water rescue, Pine Rock Road, Southbury, NUSAR responded; 10:48 pm, MVA with injury, South Main Street/Meadowbrook Road, Botsford responded.

Monday, July 26: 12:01 pm, gas spill, Schoolhouse Hill Road/Hanover Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 4:53 pm, vehicle fire, Dodgingtown Road, Dodgingtown and Hawleyville responded.

Tuesday, July 27: 12:10 pm, MVA with injury, South Main Street/Mile Hill Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 12:23 pm, MVA with injury, I-84 West between Exits 10-9, Hook & Ladder responded.

A Hilario’s employee picks up debris from a crash that happened on I-84 West just prior to the Hanover Road bridge around 12:21 pm Tuesday, July 27. According to a Connecticut State Police report a 2012 Hyundai Accent being operated by Russell Lacasse, 59, of Chloride, Ariz.; a 2014 Mazda CX-5 Sport being operated by Richard N. Symonds, 58, of Canton; a 2012 Volvo XC90 3.2 being operated by Ryan P. Healy, 48, of New Milford; and a 2010 Kenworth tractor-trailer truck being operated by Leonard L. Luxama, 44, of Brooklyn, N.Y., were all traveling west when the tractor-trailer truck struck the Volvo from behind. The Volvo spun out, according to the CSP report, and then struck the Hyundai and the Mazda. Newtown Hook & Ladder and a Nuvance ambulance crew also responded to the crash. Healy was transported to the hospital for suspected minor injuries. No injuries were reported by the other three drivers. None of the vehicles were carrying passengers. As seen from atop a Hook & Ladder truck, traffic moves slowly past two of four vehicles involved in a four-vehicle a crash on I-84 West around 12:20 pm Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the Volvo near the rear of the tractor-trailer truck was taken to the hospital for suspected minor injuries, according to the Connecticut State Police report.
