George J. Lazor, 82, of Monroe, beloved husband of Agnes Tavella Lazor, died peacefully August 1 at St Vincent’s Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Meriden, August 3, 1932, he was a son of the late George J. and Frieda Afeldt Lazor.

In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, other survivors include his loving children, Mary DeMenna, and her husband Gary, of Sandy Hook, George J. Lazor III, and his wife Renee, of Monroe, and Annemarie Maher, and her husband Sean, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; eight cherished grandchildren, Gary DeMenna, Jr, and his wife, Amy, Bryan DeMenna, and his fiancée Ashley Cronin, Gregory DeMenna, George J. IV, Garrett and Grace Lazor, and Braeden and Jenna Maher; his two brothers, Richard Lazor of Florida and James Lazor, and his wife Betty, of Meriden; as well as several nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. His sister, Muriel Doyle, predeceased Mr Lazor.

A US Army veteran, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Bentley University. Mr Lazor was employed by General Electric, where he worked as a senior investment manager before his retirement, with more than 45 years of dedicated service. After his retirement he took great pride in working alongside his son at Acquista and Lazor CPA Firm.

He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and parishioner of St Stephen Church. Most of all, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, who treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday, August 5, at 9 am, in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, and at 10 am, in St Stephen’s Church, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow. Friends may greet the family Tuesday, August 4, from 4 to 8 pm, at the funeral home.
