Nancy Kneeland Wright, 68, formerly of West Simsbury, died unexpectedly, July 28, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. She was born January 29, 1943, in Holyoke, Mass., a daughter of Mary (OâLeary) and Edward Kneeland. She was the wife of Roger Wright of Charlestown, R.I.
In addition to her husband of nearly 50 years, her sister, Susan Kneeland Licht, and husband Dr Peter Licht of Newtown; her mother, Mary Kneeland of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; her son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Sherise Wright, and daughter Julie Wright; two grandchildren; and many other relatives survive Ms Wright.
Ms Wright was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, and held a master of public health services administration from Yale University School of Medicine. She had a distinguished career in the field of Health Care Administration, having held positions at several nursing and rehabilitation facilities and with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health. She was affiliated for many years with the McLean Health Center in Simsbury, and prior to her retirement in 2010, she was chief operating officer and vice president of the McLean Fund.
She was active in many professional and volunteer organizations, and was the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Distinguished Service Award of the Connecticut Association of Not-for-Profit Providers for the Aging, the Distinguished Administrator of the Year of National Health Care Associates, and the Outstanding Managerial Award of the State of Connecticut
Her passing will leave a void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral arrangements are private. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Ms Wrightâs life, Saturday, August 13, from 3 to 5 pm, at The Cove Restaurant, 3963 Old Post Road, Charlestown, R.I. In addition, there will be a memorial gathering at McLean Health Center, on a date to be announced.
