Carlisle Collection Supports

Breast Cancer Research

The Carlisle Collection has become a member of the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s Million-Dollar Council to support breast cancer research, according to local Carlisle consultant Laura Mitchell.

Carlisle is a New York company that specializes in direct sales of women’s fine apparel. Its sales consultants have raised more than $1 million through its “Fabric of Hope” program, which supports the foundation’s mission of eradicating breast cancer.

Ms Mitchell said Carlisle consultants throughout the country offer a custom-designed silk scarf  each year for a minimum donation of $125 to the foundation. All money raised in the Fabric of Hope program goes directly to the Komen Foundation.

“In 1998, Carlisle offered its consultants the opportunity to choose a focus for its philanthropy,” Ms Mitchell said. “We chose the Komen Foundation. Most of us have a friend or relative affected by breast cancer, and a number of us are survivors ourselves. We wanted to make a difference, and working with Komen gives us that opportunity.”

Carlisle President Bonnie Weigell said that the company, its consultants, and their clients combine to create an effective alliance.

“Together, we are all able to make a difference in the fight against a diseases that touches too many people,” she said.

To make a contribution to the Fabric of Hope program, or to see the Carlisle Collection, contact Laura Mitchell at The Laura Mitchell Collection, 6 Kent Road, Newtown, 06470 or call 426-2223. The showing of the fall collection, separates in sizes 0 to 18, will be Thursday, August 12, through Wednesday, August 18. The collection can be previewed at www.carlislecollection.com.
