Name: Chris Horan

Years in school system: One.

Education: Received undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut,

and master in education from the University of Bridgeport.

Residence: Meriden .

Former occupation: Newspaper reporter for Meriden Record-Journal and Branford

Review .

Marital status: Married this past December. Honeymooned in the Berkshires.

Reason for becoming a teacher: "In my experience as newspaper reporter, I

covered the Board of Education. I always felt at home in the schools. I had a

sensation that this is where I belong. To be here completes the circle that I

began when I left journalism."

The key to successful teaching: "I think you need to have a composite approach

to teaching, especially in the middle school. The students here are emerging

human beings, but also students."

Best memory from teaching: "The professional and personal support from all my

co-workers."
