Ahead of a possible storm surge when the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida reach this area, managers of Lake Lillinonah have announced a planned water level lowering for the evening of Tuesday, August 31.

Lake Lillinonah Authority, Friends of the Lake, and FirstLight Power on Tuesday morning announced that the water level of the lake will be lowered starting at 10 pm this event.

The approximate pond level the lake will be taken to will be 192 feet. This is 3½ feet normal low operating level.

That lowered level will be maintained, according to the group statement, “until high river flows subside.”
