NBLA Awards

Scholarship

The Newtown Bridle Lands Association has awarded Heather Wilson of Newtown its annual scholarship. This memorial scholarship is presented to a high school senior who is a Newtown resident, a member of Newtown Bridle Lands Association, or has a parent who is a member. The recipient would be studying courses involving equine science, veterinary science, animal husbandry, earth science or forestry.

Heather is pursuing a degree in equine science and management at Morrisville State College this fall. Heather has been involved with horses for quite some time being a member of the Haywire 4-H Club, Newtown Draft Horse 4-H Club, and Future Farmers of America. She has been awarded several honors including the Draft Horse Dust Off Junior to Drive Art Hine Memorial Trophy, Newtown Rotary Club Personal Achievement Award, and several ribbons from competing in equestrian events. Heather’s goal is to become a professional horse trainer.

The Newtown Bridle Lands Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving open space and trails throughout Newtown for all forms of passive recreation. Each year the group holds a supper and country dance at the Edmond Town Hall to benefit the scholarship.
