The Newtown Kennel Club (NKC) invites animal lovers of all ages for a fun-filled family evening featuring police K-9 demos, a cavalry drill ride, kids’ giveaways, and free pizza on Wednesday, September 10.

Meet members of the Newtown Police Department K-9 Unit, the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG), and NKC on 2GHG’s picturesque grounds at 4 Wildlife Drive, on the Fairfield Hills Campus.

The festivities will begin at 6:45 pm with action-packed police K-9 demonstration with Newtown Police Department K-9 Officer Felicia Figol, K-9 Partner Saint Michael the German Shepherd Dog, and Training Officer Matthew Hayes.

The evening continues with the pageantry of cavalry horses in a precision drill ride performed by the 2GHG riders in the main riding ring.

Pizza will be donated by Carminuccio’s Pizza & Catering, and refreshments provided by NKC. The event will be held rain or shine, with indoor accommodations in case of inclement weather. For the safety of all animals, officials ask that attendees please leave pets at home.

For additional information call Pal Pwearl, 203-788-1776.

Members of NKC will be on hand with fun giveaways, dog trivia, and responsible dog ownership tips. NKC will accept donations in its continued support of K-9 officer Saint Michael, the first dog purchased as a result of local kennel club fundraising for the American Kennel Club’s Adopt A K-9 Cop program.

Newtown Kennel Club, founded in 1947, has a long tradition of supporting canine causes and charities whose mission includes the health and welfare of all dogs in the community. A portion of the proceeds from its annual dog shows is donated to canine-related organizations and nonprofits.
