RIDGEFIELD — New Hope Community Church Senior Pastor and author Jim Solomon will participate in a book talk with Amy Newmark, publisher and editor-in-chief of Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, concerning Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer's & Other Dementias.

The talk and book signing with Ms Newmark will be at The Ridgefield Library, 472 Main Street, on Wednesday, September 3, from 7 to 8:30 pm. Mr Solomon, who has contributed a story about his personal experiences and life lessons learned from a relative with Alzheimer’s, has accepted Ms Newmark’s invitation to speak briefly Wednesday evening.

“I felt humbled and honored, as she could’ve asked any of the hundreds of Chicken Soup for the Soul authors whose writings I personally enjoyed even more than mine. I was happy to say ‘yes!’” he said in a recent email.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer’s & Other Dementias is a collection of 101 stories that offers helpful advice, expert tips and emotional support for families and caregivers of those whose lives are affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Filled with lessons and loving inspirations from both caregivers and those who are suffering from memory loss, the book offers an invaluable resource that originated out of efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Connecticut Chapter. 

The book, released in April, includes “Songs of Remembrance,” Mr Solomon’s story of handling the illness of his mother, Amanda Tamer Solomon. His contribution, he told The Newtown Bee earlier this year, is a tale of coping with losing his mother to the disease.

Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia affect millions of people. Ms Newmark will offer support and encourage to those who care for loved one. Royalties from book sales will directly benefit the Ridgefield Library and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ms Newmark will be available after the talk for a book signing.
