Some flowers are meant for picking and others are meant for picking a path for a stroll among them. Those would be sunflowers. Castle Hill Farm, 1 Sugar Lane, for the first time, has grown these human-height (and then some) garden giants and welcomes the public to book a time for a Sunflower Stroll this month.

The flowers are tall but the season is short, expected to run through mid- to late September; it may be extended depending on how long the bright yellow blooms last.

Social distancing protocol is in effect, crowds will be limited and thus, bookings, along with masks, are required. Stroll times vary, and the farm expects to offer them on weekends, weekday evenings, and on Labor Day.

“The walk is appropriate and fun for your kids,” said Castle Hill Farm’s Stephanie Kearns, adding that her 3-year-old daughter, Charlotte, enjoys walking the distance.

Cost is $4 per person; children under 2 are free. The farm offers a $1 discount to all first responders with form of ID. A $3 deposit is due at the time of booking. The rest of each paid party’s admission fee is due in cash upon arrival.
