Horse Guard Open House September 12

The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG) will host its annual Open House on September 12, from 10:30 am to 2 pm. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy special events and exhibitions at the Fairfield Hills facility.  At 10:30 am there will be an opening ceremony and Horse Statue dedication in front of the barn.

From 11 am to 1 pm there will be games and crafts for young children and equine-related demonstrations for all. Historical uniforms and tack equipment will be on display, and information on 2GHG history and traditions will be available. Refreshments will be on site as well.

At 1 pm, 2GHG Troopers will demonstrate a Cavalry mounted drill and perform the Musical Ride and there will be additional mounted demonstrations. The Open House is a unique opportunity for community members to learn about 2GHG and to see members perform.

A 100 percent volunteer, non-profit organization, 2GHG has been serving the Citizenry of Connecticut since 1808.

Directions: Exit 11 on I-84, turn left at the end of the ramp and follow signs. From Route 25, turn on Wasserman Way, and follow signs.
