Baby Carrier

On the afternoon of Labor Day, September 1, someone turned over to police for safekeeping a knapsack-style baby carrier that they had found lying near the town memorial at the intersection of Main Street and Hanover Road.

The carrier apparently was left there by someone who had been watching the Labor Day Parade. Police described the device as a Kelty Kids Tour-brand carrier, which is black, red, blue, and gray.

The owner may claim it by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Big Theft

Police report a house burglary in which more than $25,000 worth of items were stolen.

Police said that sometime between 8 am and 3:30 pm on August 29, someone illegally entered a home on Currituck Road and stole items including jewelry, a television set, and video game systems.

The crime constitutes first-degree larceny and third-degree burglary, both of which are felonies. Police ask anyone with information on the crime to contact Officer Michael McGowan at 426-5841.

Vandalism

Sometime between 10 pm August 30, and 8:40 am August 31, someone knocked a residential mailbox off its post in front of a home at 79 High Rock Road, police report.

Police are investigating the criminal mischief and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Officer John McCluskey at 426-5841.
