Devoted Friend And Mother

Carolyn Thorsen, 71, died August 28 at her home in Moultonborough, N.H. Mrs Thorsen was born on April 8, 1935, in Cedar Fall, Iowa, to Harold and Lenora (Holm) Klepfer.

She is survived by three children, Kathryn Cunningham of Sandy Hook, Elaine Thorsen of Moultonborough, N.H., and Ellen Thorsen of Frankfort, Ky.; four grandchildren, Scott and Ashley Cannady, and Makena and Geneva Cunningham; three brothers, Harold Klepfer of San Jose, Calif., James Klepfer of Greenville, N.C., and Scott Klepfer of Cedar Falls, Iowa; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas, in 1999; a son, David Thorsen, in 2003; and a brother, Marvin Klepfer.

Mrs Thorsen was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls and graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Thomas Thorsen in Walker, Minn.

As a young woman she worked in the admissions office at Carlton College in Northfield, Minn. They moved eight times while raising their four children before retiring to Moultonborough, and Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She was currently residing in Venice, Fla., and Moultonborough.

Mrs Thorsen was an advocate for mental health legislation and attended continuing education classes at Dartmouth College. She was a devoted wife and mother, a best friend to her four children, and loved and cared deeply for her extended family and many friends. She was a reader, an exquisite decorator, and enjoyed playing golf, practicing cross stitchery, and cooking.

Funeral services were held September 2 in Minnesota. Interment was in Kviteseid Lutheran Milan Methodist Cemetery, Milan, Minn.
