To the Editor:

I’d like to invite the Newtown community to participate in the 4th Annual Passport to Sandy Hook event on Saturday, October 11th anytime from 11 am – 4 pm (rain or shine). This event creates a great opportunity for you to visit over 30 local businesses, enjoy the new streetscape, the beautiful Glen and river of Sandy Hook Village and even a chance to win $2,000 in prizes while getting a passport stamped. This is a community event for families of all sizes not to miss. There will be activities for both children and adults to enjoy such as a bouncy house, arts & craft activities, live music, dance performances, free food and refreshments, discounts and samples. It’s a fall festival in the village. Don’t forget to bring a donation for the FAITH Food Pantry as they prepare inventory for the holiday season when families need help the most.

Sandy Hook Village business owners have developed this program, promoting the concept of “buying locally first” and providing our community an opportunity to fully experience the Village and all that it has to offer. When you buy locally, you help support your shop owner neighbors thrive, create jobs within our town which strengthens Newtown’s economy and character.

Sandy Hook Village offers delicious restaurants, coffee shops and delis. I encourage you to come down to Sandy Hook Village on October 11th, possibly for lunch or dinner and participate in the community fun. Learn more by visiting www.SandyHookVillage.com and bring a friend or two. See you there!
