Easy Options For Flu Shots

Newtown Visiting Nurse Association, with assistance by Newtown Health District, Newtown Senior Center, Bethel VNA and Danbury VNA, have arranged for eight EZ Pass Family Flu Clinics. October is Family Flu Prevention Month for Newtown VNA, and the clinics are the latest event in Newtown Visiting Nurse Associationâs year-long 90th anniversary celebration.

One clinic, on October 25, will even offer the convenience of âdrive-thruâ shots, where no one will even need to get out of their automobiles.

Appointments are not needed for any of the clinics. To get a shot you cannot be allergic to eggs or egg products, and must be feeling well.

For the clinics being staffed by Bethel VNA, the group will bill Aetna, Anthem BC/BS, ConnectiCare, Oxford and Medicare Part B, otherwise the cost of the flu shot is $35 and a pneumonia shot is $52.

For the clinics being staffed by Danbury VNA, the group will bill Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, ConnectiCare, Health Net, Medicare Part B, or Oxford. Without proof of insurance, cost for the flu vaccine is $35.

For all clinics, be sure to bring your insurance card and wear short sleeves.

The clinics will begin on Saturday, October 4, from 10 am to noon, at Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street. This clinic is for all ages, as young as six months, and will be staffed by Danbury Visiting Nurse Association.

Clinics will continue as follows:

*Tuesday, October 7, at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook, between 9 am and noon, clinic staffed by Bethel VNA;

*Tuesday, October 14, Newtown Senior Center, 9 am to noon, staffed by Danbury VNA;

*Thursday, October 16, Newtown Town Offices, 31 Pecks Lane, 9 am to noon, staffed by Bethel VNA;

*Tuesday, October 21, Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook, 9 am to noon, staffed by Bethel VNA;

*Saturday, October 25, Drive-Thru Clinic at Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street, 11 am to 1 pm, staffed by Danbury VNA;

*Tuesday, October 28, Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook, 9 am to noon, staffed by Danbury VNA; and

*Friday, October 31, Newtown Savings Bank main branch, 39 Main Street in Newtown, 10 am to 2 pm, staffed by Bethel VNA.

Budget should be cut by 20%, spending $2.65 million dollars per every week forever is absolutely unsustainable ! Do everything possible to Vote No on another nonsensical attempt to increase the cost of living ! Taxpayers are honestly just renting their houses from the town, it costs me $40 every night to sleep in my own bed ! Soon it will be cheaper living in a hotel than owning a property in Newtown !

Finance Board Moves $1 Million From Education Budget

I went and complaint to Rosenthall's father that the budget was too high at $80M several years ago, now we are at almost $140M . $2.65 million per week that is ! Fairfield hills should have long been developed by investors money and bring revenue to the town. WE ARE DRIVING OURSELVES OUT OF NEWTOWN by doing this and constantly raising the cost of living. It makes zero sense, any extra budget money gets burned on stupid stuff just so they can ask for more next year. Put an END TO THIS STUPIDITY and CUT THE BUDGET 20%. Everyone will be just fine ! Kids won't get any smarter anyway. That's an honest reality !

Any common sensical person can do this job at under 100k salary. Way overhyped and overpaid at over $200k annual salary. We as voters have to put an end to this. Not to mention an assistant comes along with this job paid at 190k! What is wrong with you voters?

Difficult To Vote For BOE Budget Without Specifics

The entire budget needs to be cut not raised. The proposed budget now would sit that we spend $2.65 million dollars every week. For population of less than 30k people it is absolutely absurd ! You cannot keep driving older folks out of town just to create a revolving door of parents who come here, educate their kids and run away ! There is no need to be paying 190K annual salary to an ASSISTANT to superintendent, not in the best interest of tax payers ! The voting turnout at 9% is ridiculous ! Lobby lawmakers to change the voting by mail, so everyone gets a ballot in the mail and at least 51% of residents vote to approve, otherwise the budget should not be approved if you don't have the majority ! Most folks don't even know when the vote is ! They have taxes bundled with mortgage and don't even know ! We are raising cost of living for everyone and it is absolutely not necessary.
