Newtown High School’s football and cheerleading teams had their Senior Night festivities delayed when the scheduled Senior Night football game between Newtown and New Fairfield on October 23 was postponed due to possible coronavirus exposure in New Fairfield that had New Fairfield students engaged in distance-only learning, according to a New Fairfield administrator. No makeup date has been announced.

The Nighthawk football team visited Masuk of Monroe on October 16 and, due to Masuk’s low number of players, competed in a non-scored 7-on-7 event in which offenses and defenses alternated possessions, and junior varsity and freshman team players also ran plays.

For Newtown’s varsity team, Jack Street threw five touchdowns, and C.J. Cuomo, T.J. O’Connell, Matt Jacobs, Shaine Luzietti, and Jake Dandrea all caught touchdown passes. Nick Fischer had an interception for the defense.

New Milford is scheduled to visit Newtown at Blue & Gold Stadium on Friday, October 30; kickoff is set for 6 pm.
