The Housatonic Athletic Wellness Center celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday, October 15 with a ceremonious ribbon cutting.

One might notice the purple shirts immediately, Chris Reuther said. “We wanted to differentiate ourselves ... everyone is blue ... It’s more inclusive. Think of the female athletes, this is a place for them, too.”

The new facility features a gym, tutoring services, physical therapy services, mental health coaching, nutritional services, massage and Reiki services, and a small turf field for athletes to practice on. Reuther shared with The Bee, “[We have] a holistic approach to athletic performance.” He also shared that before the grand opening, girls lacrosse already hosted a practice there, as well as the Newtown Babe Ruth Travel Team for high school age. Reuther added, “The big thing for this facility is team work and clinics ... We are ready to accept folks.”
