Four Charges

Jose E. Santiago, 28, of Bridgeport, was operating a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 northbound on the I-84 Exit 11 off ramp approaching Wasserman Way, on October 13. A time was not noted on the police report.

Santiago drove through the intersection at the end of the exit ramp and into the embankment along the westbound shoulder of Wasserman Way. No injuries were reported. The truck was towed from the scene.

Santiago was issued misdemeanor summonses for operating a motor vehicle without a license, improper use of plates, failure to maintain insurance, and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Field Vandalism

Police were dispatched on October 10 at approximately 8:25 am to Fairfield Hills on a report of vandalism to a soccer field near Keating Farms Avenue.

The grass of the soccer field sustained damage from an unidentified vehicle that had driven over it, causing deep grooves to be made into the turf of the field.

Police believe the damage was done during the overnight hours of Friday-Saturday, October 9-10. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer John McCluskey at 203-426-5841.

Three-Vehicle Crash

Jeyson O. Suarez-Villizhanay, 27, no address given, was operating a 2012 Subaru Impreza Limited AWD east on Mount Pleasant Road around 3:25 pm, October 15. Suarez-Villizhanay had stopped and was waiting for oncoming traffic to clear before turning turn left into the driveway of 164 Mount Pleasant Road. While stopped, the Impreza was hit in the rear by a 2016 Lexus RX 350, operated by Danae J. Wolff, 41, of Bethel.

That collision pushed the Impreza into oncoming traffic, where it made contact with a 2017 Ford Fusion SE AWD operated by Carrie L. Pelletier, 41, of Danbury, traveling westbound on Mount Pleasant Road.

The Fusion was hit in both driver’s side doors by the Impreza.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene.

Suarez-Villizhanay was transported to the hospital after reporting back pain. The other two drivers reported no injuries.

Pelletier was issued an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Passing On Right

Nizar Jinnah, 55, of Easton, was operating a 2019 Nissan Rogue S west on Berkshire Road, in the westbound lane approaching Newtown High School, around 5:33 pm, October 15.

At the same time, Douglas C. McLaughlin, 56, of Southbury, was operating a 2017 GMC Terrain SLE behind the Rogue.

As the Rogue began to slow for traffic turning left into the driveway of the high school, 12 Berkshire Road, McLaughlin attempted to pass Rogue on the right. The driver’s side of the Terrain struck the passenger side of the Rogue.

No injuries were reported. McLaughlin was given a verbal warning for failure to comply with passing on the right.

Evading At Flagpole

A Stratford resident was recently the victim of a hit-and-run incident at the Main Street flagpole intersection.

Gary J. Alessie, 62, operating a 2009 Nissan Altima 2.5, was traveling south on Main Street, approaching the intersection with Church Hill Road, around 4:14 pm on October 16. As Alessie entered the intersection, an unknown vehicle that had been traveling west on Church Hill Road also entered the intersection. The police report says the unidentified vehicle “may have stopped” for the stop sign at the top of Church Hill Road.

After entering the intersection, the unknown vehicle began to turn left, and the two vehicles collided. The right front bumper of unknown vehicle struck the left front bumper of the Altima, causing moderate damage.

Alessie pulled over in front of 31 Main Street, and watched as the unknown vehicle continued, traveling south on Main Street without stopping. The evading vehicle was described as a silver SUV with damage to the right front area. No additional information was available.

No injuries were reported.
