The Newtown Nonprofit Council, led by the C.H. Booth Library, hosted an online meeting to go over more information about its volunteer hub Get Connected, Newtown! on October 18. It also dedicated a portion of its meeting for local organizations to share upcoming events.

C.H. Booth Library Director Douglas Lord said that Get Connected, Newtown! has around 15 groups featured on the site so far.

Sarah Patafio, reference assistant and volunteer hub project manager for the C.H. Booth Library, gave a recap about the website for the new attendees joining the meeting.

Friends of the C.H. Booth Library President Toni Earnshaw voiced how helpful Patafio has been in helping her nonprofit utilize the “Get Connected, Newtown!” site and that it helped group with its recent Fall Donation Day.

“I think it was the most successful we’ve had yet… it was spectacular,” Earnshaw said.

The floor was then opened for the nonprofits representatives to share upcoming events, many of which emphasized the hope of getting the word out to more people.

The public can visit Get Connected, Newtown! and view upcoming events mentioned by going to newtownnc.galaxydigital.com. All are encouraged to check out the site and start getting connected today.

“The community spirit here is unlike anything I’ve ever seen,” Lord said about the nonprofits in Newtown.

It was also mentioned at the end of the meeting that there is a need for a new logo to be created for the site and that it is in the works.

The next Newtown Nonprofit Council meeting is scheduled for the morning of Monday, November 15. Lord encourages everyone to not only attend but to also bring a friend.
