Horse Shows

NOVEMBER 11-14: Equine Affaire, the Great American Horse Exposition, will return to the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts, November 11 through 14. There will be more than 200 different training clinics, seminars, and demonstrations featured in five venues throughout the four days. There will be nationally- and internationally-recognized horse trainers, coaches, competitors and other equine professionals who will be sharing their expertise (Richard Shrake, Jane Savoie, Anne Kursinski, Kerry Millikin, Brian Dygert, Elizabeth McMullen, Curt Pate and Don West just to name a few). NOVEMBER 14: A Hunter/Jumpers/Equitation Horse Show will be held Sunday, October 17, at 8:30 am, at Lion Hill Farm in Easton. There will be a $250 mini Prix and a $150 Power & Speed section. The event will be held rain or shine. Proper attire would be appreciated, but not mandatory. Trophies and six ribbons for each class will be presented. Entry fee is $12 per class. Holiday Celebrations

NOVEMBER 18: A holiday celebration to benefit Pegasus Therapeutic Riding will be held Thursday, November 18, from 6 to 9 pm, at Anthropologie, 1365 Post Road East, Westport. It will feature a special evening of holiday shopping (20% discount on all merchandise purchased that day) and festivities (hors d’oeuvres and other treats available from Hay Day Market). Tickets are $30 per person. Call 1-203-356-9504 for further information. Pegasus is a 50{c}{3} non-profit organization. Contributions are tax deductible.

Trip To Equine Affaire

NOVEMBER 13: The Fairfield County 4-H horse committee will be sponsoring a bus trip to Equine Affaire at the Eastern States Esposition grounds in West Springfield, Massachusetts on Saturday, November 13. The bus will leave Southbury promptly at 7:30 am and will return around 11:30 pm. Round trip charge is $5 for 4-H members and their immediate family and $10 for all others. Open House

NOVEMBER 15: Stepping Stone Farm in Ridgefield will official open its heated Olympic-sized riding arena with a week-long Open House starting on Monday, November 15. Stop by and see the farm, meet the staff. Open House hours are 9 am to 5 pm daily. For further information, call 1-203-438-7749.

Performances

NOVEMBER 11: The Second Company Governor’s Foot Guard Band will perform at East Hill Woods, 611 East Hill Road, Southbury, on Thursday, November 11, at 7:15 pm. Under the direction of Col. Michael W. Trentalange, the concert will feature a variety of musical selections ranging from stirring marches and patriotic songs to traditional German-style umpah music and Dixieland.
