Christian Heritage School

Receives Grant

TRUMBULL — Stephen E. Taylor, headmaster of Christian Heritage School (CHS), has announced that the school will be the recipient of a $200,000 challenge grant which will enable the school to achieve the $1.4 million goal originally sought in its landmark capital fundraising effort. The Capital Campaign, “Celebrating the Past… Embracing the Future,” was officially launched in October of last year.

“On October 2, 2000, we received a $100,000 gift which brought us to the $1 million milestone in our campaign,” stated Mr Taylor. “The $200,000 dollar-for-dollar challenge grant, if matched by December 31 through pledges or contributions by the CHS community and outside sources, will put us over the finish line with the last $400,000 of our $1.4 million goal.”

The school has earmarked money from the Capital Fund Campaign for four specific areas: $900,000 for facilities expansion – specifically, the January 1, 2000, completion of the new 8,000 square foot classroom addition; $100,000 for state-of-the-art computer technology; $200,000 to expand financial aid opportunities for deserving students; and $200,000 to provide an endowment fund for faculty enrichment and to supplement operations.

Founded in 1977, Christian Heritage School is a private, regional, interdenominational Christian day school located on a 5.5-acre campus at 575 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, CHS offers college preparatory classes for over 525 students enrolled in grades K through 12.
