To the Editor:

Newtown Parks & Recreation's Fall Carnival made its debut at Fairfield Hills the weekend of October 20-22, bringing to town good old-fashioned family fun. The carnival featured rides, games and concessions by Stewart Amusements, food trucks, vendors, music, and an endless sea of smiling faces.

There are so many moving parts and people involved for a multiday event like this to come together. Thank you to the Newtown Parks & Recreation Commission, Fairfield Hills Authority, Newtown Police, Newtown Police Explorers, Public Works, Newtown Ambulance, Newtown Health Department, Carl Samuelson, and our Parks & Recreation staff for their support with the coordination of this event. Thank you to Bob Connor for assisting us to make this event possible and to Dick Stewart, Lou Romano, and their staff for making this fall event a truly wonderful time. We so enjoyed having John Voket spinning music and Brad Peterson and Charlie Johnson performing live entertainment. We are so appreciative of the enthusiastic team of volunteers who operated the ticket booth and maintained the grounds impeccably.

We would also like to extend gratitude to our sponsors, Andy Sachs and the Around Town Team at Coldwell Banker, Honda of Danbury, and World Champion Taekwondo. Thank you to the business vendors and food truck vendors for participating. We hope everyone enjoyed a treat (or two); from candy apples and cotton candy to the sweet and savory food trucks, there were many options to choose from.

Thank you to everyone who came out to benefit the Newtown Park Gift Fund. The fund supports our department's mission to create quality recreation and leisure opportunities, strengthening our community through people, parks and programs. We thank you for your support and look forward to next year!

With much appreciation,

Amy E.W. Mangold
