A Call For Storytellers

DANBURY — Danbury’s first Tellabration, a national and international storytelling event, will be held at the Danbury Library Saturday, November 18, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.

Talented and experienced storytellers in the greater Danbury area are being sought to participate in Tellabration!, a multicultural themed program of “Folktales From Around the World.” Bert MacCarry, a local storyteller, is organizing the event and hoping to engage a variety of storytellers to display their talents.

“I’m hoping that storytellers who feel passionate about preserving or reviving the oral tradition and those who love to perform as storytellers will volunteer as tellers for the program,” Mr MacCarry explained. Interested storytellers are asked to call 796-0017 by Wednesday, November 8.

Tellabration! is sponsored by the National Storytelling Network in Jonesborough, Tenn. In Connecticut, it is also sponsored by the Connecticut Storytelling Center in New London. The Danbury Library will join more than 20 other local areas in Connecticut to sponsor Tellabration! 2006 at the local level.
