Charles E. Manville

Decorated Korean    War Veteran

Charles E. Manville of East Waterbury Road, Naugatuck, husband of Regina (Dumonski) Manville, died October 30 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, James B. Manville of Sandy Hook and Gerald E. Manville of Naugatuck; one daughter, Nancy A. Mariano of Naugatuck; three grandchildren, Timothy Charles Mariano of Hong Kong, and William V. and David J. Manville, both of Sandy Hook; two great-grandchildren, Mia Ann Mariano and Jackson Thomas Mariano; and one son-in-law, Dominic J. Mariano, Jr, of Naugatuck; and two daughters-in-law, Barbara A. (Seymour) Manville of Sandy Hook and Beverly (Lush) Manville of Naugatuck. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Manville.

Mr Manville was born in Seymour, son of Wesley and Minnie (Hubbell) Manville. He lived most of his life in Naugatuck. He graduated at the top of his class with a bachelor of science degree from the University of Bridgeport that he completed within three years.

He had worked as a financial consultant for Mass Mutual Co. in Southbury for several years. Prior to that, he worked for Miller Co. in Meriden and Timex Co.

He was a decorated US Army Veteran of the Korean War, and he received the Bronze Star, and Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars.

His hobbies included golfing, fishing, bowling, and square dancing. He was a member of Holy Saviour Polish National Catholic Church.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 9 am at Holy Saviour Polish National Catholic Church, 118 Prospect Street, Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5 to 8 pm at the Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, with members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council meeting at 7:15 pm.
