Helen Dirga Demovick

Timekeeper for  Bassick Company

Helen Dirga Demovick, 97, of Stratford, died October 27 at Ashlar of Newtown. Born in Bridgeport, she had been a lifelong area resident, living in Stratford for the past 61 years.

Survivors include her loving family: a daughter, Janet Tanner and her husband, Robert, of Newtown; a son, James Demovick of Stratford; her grandchildren, Robert Tanner and his wife, Melanie, of Newtown, David Tanner and his wife, Ruth, of New Milford and Susan Amorando and her husband, Allen, of New Milford; her seven great-grandchildren that adored her, Christine Seibold and her husband, Jason, Allen Amorando and his wife, Kari, Jessica Tanner, Heather Tanner, Katie Tanner, Ryan Tanner, and Jacob Amorando; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs Demovick was predeceased by her husband, Frank, and a grandson, Ted Tanner.

Mrs Demovick was a retired timekeeper for the Bassick Company for 46 years. She was a member of the Holy Ghost seniors, a charter member of the Holy Ghost Women’s Guild, charter member of the Women’s Council of Eastern Orthodox Christian Churches of Greater Bridgeport, the Baldwin Center seniors, and the Quarter Century Club at Bassick Company.

Funeral services took place October 31 in the Adzima Funeral Home,  Stratford, and in Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, East Main Street, Bridgeport, with a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment was in St John’s Cemetery, Stratford.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, 1540 East Main Street, Bridgeport CT 06610.
