Family Program

Attention all runners or would-be runners: There is a new event for Newtown Youth Services. The First Annual Newtown Road Race will be held on Saturday, September 2. Committees for the event are forming now. Please contact Roseanne for information.

Parent Programs Moms Groups

Moms of Babies ages birth to 12 months meets on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am, runs through December 6. The fee is $25.

Moms of Toddlers ages 12 to 18 months meets on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am, runs until December 8. The fee is $25.

Both of these groups will meet in NYS Parents’ Corner.

Moms of Multiples will meet once a month, on Fridays from 10 to 11 am; the next meeting is November 18, held at the Newtown Methodist Church. There is no fee for this group.

Gym Time: Toddlers to preschoolers meets at the Edmond Town Hall gym on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am. The fee is $30.

The Hope And Support Group

If you are a parent with questions or concerns about your child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are welcome to attend this group. Meetings are held every Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at NYS.

Youth Programs

NYCAAP — This group meets on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm at the high school.

HSYAB (Youth Advisory Board) has begun its meetings. The next meeting will be on Monday, November 7. This group is open to all Newtown high school students.

SMAD — Next meetings will be Wednesday, November 9, from 2 to 3:30, in Room A7, and November 30 in the cafeteria. Meetings will be held on December 14 in Room A7 and January 4 in the cafeteria.

WIRED — Meets every Thursday from 2 to 3 at the high school.

Children of Divorce — Meets the first and third Monday of the month from 6 to 7 pm. The next meeting will be on November 7.

Sibshops — Meets the last Monday of the month from 5 to 7 pm. November’s meeting will be held on Monday, November 28.
