David Thomas Farrell, Sr, 64, beloved husband to Maureen Dillon Buckley of Bridgeport, died October 29 at his home, surrounded by his children and close family. Dave was born on August 29, 1949. He was a lifelong Bridgeport resident.

In addition to his wife, his siblings Sally Lyddy of Newtown, George Farrell, Jr, of Seymour, Kate Berarducci of Trumbull, Hilary Carr, and her husband Christopher, of Fairfield, Marianne Sullivan, and her husband Raymond, of Huntington, Joseph Farrell, and his wife Stephanie, of Raleigh, N.C.; his children and spouses Michael and Julia Farrell of New York City, William and Molly Farrell of Fairfield, David Farrell, Jr, and his wife Alison, of Fairfield, and Kathleen and Alan D’Amura of Fairfield; his loved and cherished seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews survive Mr Farrell. His first wife Diane Speer Farrell; his parents, George and Sally Tierney Farrell; and a brother, Thomas Farrell predeceased him.

Affectionately known to most as “Big Dave,” he will be remembered most for his sense of humor and laughter. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves, and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Elks Club, Port 5, and the Gaelic American Club.

Prior to his brief illness, he was employed by the City of Bridgeport for tenyears. He also held various positions, including a Wilton police officer for many years, worked for Willis Distributors, Parsons Screw Products, UPS, and had a self-employed painting business.

He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr Farrell cherished his Irish heritage and enjoyed listening to music, playing golf and tennis, crossword puzzles, and going for a ride.

Calling hours take place Monday, November 4, from 4 to 8 pm, at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. His funeral will take place Tuesday, November 5, at 11 am, at St Margaret’s Shrine, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will be private.
