St Rose School’s Honor Honors The Town

To the Editor:

As a parent of two St Rose School children, I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to St Rose School on being the recipient of the US Department of Education’s 2009 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award! This is an honor that is well deserved and represents the dedication and tenacity of the entire administration, faculty, student body, and their families to make this kind of achievement happen.

I also would like to remind the Newtown community that this award partly belongs to them for the role they play in our children’s education. The local businesses like The Newtown Bee Publishing Company, The Big Y, the post office, the Police Department, Edmond Town Hall, The Ice Cream Shop, and the area pizzerias and banks (just to name a few), that have hosted many of our school field trips and have given so generously of their time and resources to add value to our children’s learning and growing experience. We also have a great Parks and Recreation Program, a Senior Youth Group, and other Newtown school-sponsored events that all provide wonderful influences for the development of our children. I thank you for providing all of that and more.

As I write this letter, Monsignor Robert Weiss and our principal, Mary Maloney, are in Washington, D.C., accepting the Blue Ribbon Award. And even though our St Rose School community is brimming with pride, please be reminded that this award belongs to everyone in this community and it is a wonderful achievement for our town!

Sincerely,

Crystal Mok
