Evading Responsibility

Police said they received a report of a motor vehicle accident that occurred about 8:55 am November 4 at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Trades Lane at Fairfield Hills, in which the offending driver left the scene without stopping.

Police said trucker Douglas Griffin, 34, of Watertown was driving a large 2004 Freightliner FL-70 truck that caused a collision at that intersection with a 2002 Honda Civic driven by Susan Allison, 58, of Woodbury. There were no injuries, police said.

After the impact, Griffin drove the truck away from the scene. Police said they located Griffin more than two miles away on Sugar Street, near a road construction site at Deep Brook.

After investigating, police charged Griffin with evading responsibility and with failure to obey traffic signs and markings.

Police released Griffin from their custody on $40 bail for a November 18 court appearance.

Pontiac Vs Honda

A two-vehicle collision occurred on Wasserman Way, near the entrance to the commuter parking lot for Exit 11 of Interstate 84 , about 12:15 pm October 31.

Motorist Lansing Bennett, 18, of 7 Gray’s Plain Road was driving a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan westward on Wasserman Way, as motorist Elizabeth Ferrarri, 43, of Brookfield was driving a 2003 Honda Civic sedan eastward there, police said.

The Pontiac then started to make a left turn to enter the commuter parking lot, but in doing so went into the Honda’s path of travel, resulting in a collision, police said.

Ambulance volunteers transported Ferrarri to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police issued Bennett an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.
