It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Mary. Mary Elizabeth Socci passed away on November 14 after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Mary was born May 8, 2006, to parents Lewis and Sally Socci.

Mary was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Sternberg; paternal grandfather, Vincent Socci; cousins, Ian Sternberg and Frank Quatrella, Jr; and “Big” Uncle Kenny Ayles.

She is survived by her parents, Lewis and Sally Socci; sisters, Susan and Jennifer; brother, Joseph; grandmother, Susan Socci; and a host of family and friends.

Mary had a great love for family, friends, theatre, and of course her dogs, Carly and Mia. Her deep love of animals, extreme acts of kindness, and charming singing voice definitely show how she resembled her favorite princess, Snow White. Mary enjoyed camping with her family, going to Disney, and riding every roller coaster. Her friends were so important to Mary and the love they all had for one another shined through every single day. Mary enjoyed acting and singing with her sisters and her New Arts friends every summer and Christmas show. NewArts became her second family.

Mary’s dogs were her smiling force. When life was hard on Mary, her dogs would brighten her day; the unconditional love they all had for one another was a gift. Mary was kind to all, no matter who you were. In her eyes you were just a person who deserves love and respect. Throughout the difficult times Mary was true to herself. In true Mary fashion she was always most concerned about her family, friends, and pets. Rest in peace, baby girl.

Friends may call (with masks required and social distancing) at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown on Friday, November 20, from 4 to 7 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 21, at 10 am in St Rose of Lima Church. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance at the Mass will be by invitation only.

For those who cannot attend, the Mass will be live streamed at strosechurch.com, select the Voice of St Rose link, and then the “StreamSpot” box. The direct link for the funeral is at venue.streamspot.com.

Interment will be in St Rose Cemetery.

Mary’s development as a person was greatly influenced by her second family, 12/14 Foundation. “Rise Above, Go Beyond.” Because of this, we humbly ask that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to 12/14 Foundation at PO Box 90, Newtown CT 06470 or visit https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E333997&id=13.
