The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library is hosting its second annual pop-up Holiday Book and Gift Boutique at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. The special event is set up near the Little Book Store on the library's second/main floor. The Boutique will remain open during regular library hours through Saturday, January 8.

Shoppers will find something for everyone on their gift list at very affordable prices. The Boutique features a wide variety of new and like-new gift-quality books for all ages, jigsaw puzzles, games, stocking stuffers, and many other fun items. The stock will be replenished frequently over the course of the pop-up sale, so shoppers are encouraged to visit more than once to find the perfect gift for friends, family, or even themselves.

There is a broad selection of adult fiction and non-fiction books, all in excellent condition and arranged by subject, and the best of the classics, including works by Dickens, Shakespeare, and various poets.

Organizers also promise beautiful art books, works on history, gardening, and other non-fiction topics are sure to please the recipient. According to volunteer Lynda Doyle, “We have an eclectic selection of cookbooks, including many holiday books, Food Network chefs, Cooks Illustrated books, beautiful baking/dessert themes, and celebrity chefs.”

Children’s books are organized by reading level.

“Looking for board books, lovely picture books for the pre-K set, books for new readers in the early grades or books for older readers, including young adults? You name it, we have it,” said volunteer Denise Kaiser. “You’ll find books in the Branches series, Dr Seuss, the Gregor the Overlander and Hunger Games series by [Suzanne] Collins, and many more, some even in boxed sets.”

For both adults and children, many books that convey the joy of the holiday season have been put into the sale. New this year is a large selection of children’s books on Hanukkah suitable for gift-giving.

There is also a large selection of activity items for all ages, including brand-new jigsaw puzzles, adult coloring books and games, as well as select DVDs and CDs to entertain throughout the winter months.

No holiday sale would be complete without gifts, and the Friends Boutique offers a unique selection of items that will also be refreshed over the course of the sale.

“Brand-new toys for children, hand-crafted gifts for the home, even cards hand-designed by a local artist” are all available, noted volunteer Marge Gingolaski. “It’s remarkable the items we are able to offer this year."

The Friends are offering two contactless payment options. Shoppers can either leave cash or a check in the secure cash boxes on site or go to boothbooksale.org to pay by credit card through PayPal. Proceeds from the sale benefit C.H. Booth Library.

As a special service, Friends volunteers will be on hand to provide personalized shopping assistance and process payments on December 4-5 during the Newtown Holiday Festival weekend.
