Stolen Goods Displayed At Police Station

Newtown Police said that people who recently had goods stolen overnight from their unlocked vehicles will be able to view and identify those items that police have recovered during three viewing sessions, at the police station at 3 Main Street (Route 25).On November 13, police arrested two boys under age 18 who allegedly had stolen the many items during illegal entries into unlocked vehicles. Police are aware of items having been stolen from vehicles parked on Adams Hill Road, Baldwin Road, Black Walnut Drive, Edmond Road, Elm Drive, Juniper Road, Lincoln Road, Mile Hill Road, Nearbrook Drive, Oak Ridge Road, Oakview Road, Sleepy Hollow Road, Sugar Street, and Turkey Hill Road.

The items were stolen from November 10 through November 13.

The public will be allowed to view those items on Saturday, December 2, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm; on Monday, December 4, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm; and on Wednesday, December 6, from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.

If people who believe that goods were stolen from their vehicles cannot attend those sessions, they should contact Detective Jason Frank at the police station at 203-426-5841. In leaving a telephone message, callers should provide their telephone number, the address from which the property was stolen, and a description of the stolen goods.

Police said the stolen items also may have been taken from other areas in town from November 10 through November 13.

As a deterrent to crime, police urge that residents lock their vehicles and remove valuables from them when unattended.

Newtown Police Department will be taking a no-excuses approach to seatbelt law enforcement, writing citations day and night, during the current Click It Or Ticket seatbelt use campaign.
