Garden Club Greens Sale Returning December 3

The Garden Club of Newtown will hold its annual Christmas Greens Sale on Saturday, December 3, from 9 am to 1 pm, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

Club members plan all year for this special fundraiser by drying plants from their gardens and collecting pinecones and other items to use in decorating wreaths, swags and table arrangements for the holiday season. Holly, winterberry, rose hips, boxwood and a wide assortment of evergreens will be incorporated into the designs.

Tabletop boxwood trees, roping and bunches of loose greens will be available and Christmas treats for the birds, a very popular item will be returning.  The main focus of the club is to provide a variety of unusual holiday decorations and gift items made from fresh and natural materials at great prices.

The club will also be raffling a special item on Saturday: an antique (circa 1927) botanical print donated by Katherine Williams of Weathered Way.

The Garden Club of Newtown uses profits from this fundraiser to contribute to the community in many ways, including scholarships for graduates through Newtown Scholarship Association. The club also designed, installed and maintains the gardens at The Matthew Curtiss House and the Blue Star Highway Memorial Marker at the VFW Post.
