Vandalism Spree

Police report that unknown vandals intentionally damaged numerous curbside residential mailboxes during a two-hour period extending from about 10 pm on Saturday, November 26, to midnight on Sunday, November 27, along four residential streets in town. The vandals damaged mailboxes positioned along Yogananda Street, Charter Ridge Road, New Lebbon Road, and High Rock Road, police said. Police ask anyone with information about the criminal mischief spree to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Larceny Charge

Police report that at about 11:30 am on November 29, Newtown High School officials and the police’s school resource officer for the high school received word that some students there had some money stolen from their belongings that were left in a school locker room.

The police officer and school officials thus investigated and reviewed video surveillance recordings of the premises, which showed a suspect entering the locker room in question, police said.

The suspect identified through the video recording was then found to be in possession of the unspecified amount of missing money, police said.

Police arrested the suspect, charging the person with sixth-degree larceny. That charge reflects the alleged theft of items worth less than $500.

Police said the person was released on a written promise to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on December 19. Because the person arrested is under age 18, the suspect’s identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.

SUV Vs Bird

Police report that Susan Conley, 48, of 8 Pine Street was driving a 2004 Honda CRV SUV eastward on Berkshire Road on the morning of November 29, when the vehicle was struck by a large bird, possibly a wild turkey, that was flying across the roadway. Conley was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
