To the Editor:

The members of Futbol Friends International would like to thank all of the players and business sponsors who participated in Six2Six, a November 23 indoor charity soccerthon at Newtown Youth Academy. The event drew 120 players and 20 sponsors, and netted close to $2,000 for local charities.

Proceeds were divided between Futbol Friends, a Woodbury nonprofit that works with US kids to buy soccer equipment for young players worldwide, and the scholarship fund for the AC Connecticut Premier League teams, based in Newtown. Participants also brought scores of items for Newtown Food Pantry, and the leftover food from the event went to St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury.

Special thanks goes to Newtown Youth Academy for providing a wonderful venue at a deep discount, making this amazing event possible. More than 20 sponsors stepped up to offer cash donations and raffle items, including the following local businesses and individuals: Platform Specialty Products,  Compass Capital Management, HHC Acupuncture, A&D Upholstery, Baron Engraving, Crowne Plaza Southbury, Hang It Up Closets, Hinckley Allen, Home Town Luncheonette, LG Landscaping Services, Litchfield Athletic Club, Litchfield Dental Associates, The Monteiro Family, New Milford Sport Club, New Morning Market, Outdoor Living, Stone and Garden Design, Perspectives Treatment Center, Seidel Inc., TASC Accounting, and The Taunton Press. Carminuccio’s Pizza donated six large pizzas for the afterparty, which were gobbled up by grateful players.
