Congratulations And Many Thanks
To the Editor:
Families United in Newtown (F.U.N.), a community recreational program for families, supported the Annual Newtown Chapter of the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Monday, November 22.
Ninety nine amazing students were inducted into the prestigious society for the 100th year anniversary of this tradition. I was so proud to watch the students walk across the auditorium stage to receive their arm bump and award for their accomplishment.
It was such a joy to me to know the faces and names of many of the new inductees as they are volunteering in F.U.N. to help mentor the special needs children, teens, and adults in our monthly themed meetings.
Congratulations junior and senior students. So proud of you!
F.U.N. is a non-profit 501c3 Foundation that was created in memory of Tyler Jones in 2009. This was the twelfth year that F.U.N. has been a part of the Honors Society induction — a great pleasure for our organization.
Many thanks to Dr Lorrie Rodrigue, Dr Kim Longobucco, Mr Jeff Tolson and the NHS officers for supporting our cause. We could not run our program without the support of the National Honor Society and other student and adult volunteers. During this time of year, we want to give thanks to everyone that supports our mission.
Many thanks for the National Honor Society for donating $1,000. We have received many generous donations this year allowing us to continue to provide this service — supporting social and emotional growth of our participants.
F.U.N. is currently planning to present its 9th Annual Benefit Concert on January 8 at 7pm at Newtown Congregational Church, although that date and time are subject to change. This ‘FUNRaiser’ is our biggest event of the year supporting our local talent.
We invite everyone in the community to learn more about F.U.N. at familiesunitedinnewtown.org or on our Facebook page — and to join the FUN!
