Michael E. "Mike" Kondrat, 66, of Sandy Hook died unexpectedly October 1, at his home. He was born in Danbury on June 10, 1951, a son of the late Margaret (Churchill) and Irving Kondrat.

Mr Kondrat grew up in Danbury and was a graduate of Immaculate High School, where he played baseball and ran cross country. He also was a graduate of Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., where he was a member of the baseball team.

A lifelong resident of the Danbury area, Mr Kondrat was a resident of Sandy Hook for two years. He was employed as a driver for C&D Moving and Storage of Brookfield.

An avid Yankees and Giants fan, Mr Kondrat had been a member of several area bowling leagues and played in the Danbury Sunday Softball League.
