A Concert For Young People

DANBURY — Danbury Music Centre will present its annual Young People’s Concert on Sunday, February 9, at 3 pm, at Ives Concert Hall, 181 White Street.

This free concert, appropriate for school-age children, will be performed by Danbury Symphony Orchestra under the direction of David Katz, music director and conductor. The orchestra will present “Around the World in Eighty Minutes,” a musical tour of countries throughout the world.

A special “stop” will be made in Poland when the pianist Rosaleen Rhee, winner of the first annual student concerto competition, will perform the first movement of Chopin’s Piano Concerto #1.

Miss Rhee is a piano student of New Fairfield resident Margarita Nuller. She was born in the United States and moved to Korea with her family when she was four years old. There, she began piano lessons. She returned to the United States two years ago and is a boarding student at Kent School, where she is a junior.

In addition to Poland, the orchestra will also take its audience to England, Spain, Italy, Russia, and Asia.

For additional information, call Danbury Music Centre at 748-1716.
