To the Editor:The Bee to represent and serve all Newtown residents, regardless of their viewpoints.The Bee for a sense of community. Please let "sense of community" prevail as The Bee's driving mission.

The Editorial Ink Drops of May 19 was disturbing. You stated that some of your readers feel the "cost of lives to gun violence is acceptable." And for these readers, "perhaps numbers that hit the wallet are more powerful."

Wow. Do you really, truly believe that there are Newtown residents among us who value money more than the violent loss of innocent lives?

If some Newtown residents are not in lockstep with the gun control actions you espouse, that doesn't imply that they're callous. Perhaps they believe those actions would cause more harm than good. Maybe they believe different actions would be more effective.

Although Newtown residents share the woeful bond of firsthand exposure to violent loss of lives, not all residents think alike. In your role as editor of our hometown newspaper, I would hope you'd respect the diversity of viewpoints in town. I would expect
