The New Baroque Soloists, with special guest the soprano Susan Consoli, will perform “A Festive Holiday Concert of Chamber Music” at Trinity Episcopal Church on Friday, December 28.

The concert will begin at 8 pm. Tickets are $35, and reservations are being requested. While the concert has been in the works for some time, in the wake of the December 14 shootings at Sandy Hook School the musicians have announced they will be performing gratis. In addition, all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Sandy Hook Elementary School Memorial Scholarship Fund through Newtown Scholarship Association, Inc, and The Sandy Hook School Support Fund organized through Newtown Savings Bank and The United Way of Western Connecticut.

The concert is being organized and sponsored by Newtown Scholarship Association in celebration of NSA’s 75th anniversary.

Attendees will enjoy modern- day world premieres from the group’s proprietary repertoire, compiled through 20 years of research and performance, and now arrangements of Baroque classics, including works of Bach, Handel, Vivalsi, Telemann, and others. The performance will be “rich in the voices of woodwind, brass, keyboard and stringed instruments,” according to the performers.

The New Baroque Soloists performs large-scale chamber music, the usual size being eight performers. Members are Joel Pitchon, violin; Ronald Feldman, cello; Douglas Myers, trumpet and horn (and artistic director and founder); Ellen Katz Willner, oboe; Ben Woodward, keyboards; Gregory Hayes, organ and harpsichord; Yuko Naito, violin; and Greg Whitaker, trumpet and horn.
