To the Editor:The Newtown Bee did an excellent job of publicizing. And what would we have done without the help of Alice Cooney, Steve Whiting, and Dan Cruson, Jr, for website services?

We thank the many people who made our Newtown Historical Society June House and Garden Tour so successful. First are those who graciously opened their homes and gardens for viewing: Dr Jeff and Nancy Metzger, Dr Lionel and Margareta Brown, Maureen Rohmer, David and Susan Rosen, Pat Barkman, William and Erica Barber, Bob and Kristin Pilchard and Jim and Jen. Secondly, we commend the docents who took two-hour shifts. We couldn't have done this without you!

We are also grateful to our sponsors. Newtown Garden Club and Town and Country Garden Club each made lovely bouquets for the houses. Holly Kocet made the grounds of the Curtiss House beautiful. Caraluzzi's gave us free balloons. World of Wine and Spirits provided cheer. Sherry Paisley made name tags for the docents and committee members. Beth Caldwell, Jo-Ann Scebold, Cathy Masi, Sharon Cohen, and Jean Maturin made sizable contributions. We also appreciate our ticket sellers: UPS, C.H. Booth Library, and The Toy Tree.

Lastly, we thank our superb committee of Sharon Cohen, Chris Ljncoln, Cathy Masi, Collin Robeson, and Jean Mathurin.

Despite our efforts, we could not find a docent chair, who enlists docents and assigns their time slots. We went ahead without this vital help, but will have to cancel next year's tour if we don't find someone to make this commitment. This would be disconcerting since the tour has given pleasure for over 20 years and provided funds for the Historical Society. Please call Gordon at 203-405-6392 if you have any interest. We would greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Lincoln Sander
