Alan R. Dawe, 65, of Earlville, N.Y., died suddenly March 11, in Bali, Indonesia, while on a round-the-world vacation. He was born in Bridgeport, August 12, 1948, and was a son of the late Franklyn P. and Justine C. (Vorus) Dawe of Trumbull.

His brothers Barry P. Dawe of Newtown and Rodger W. Dawe of Trumbull, one nephew, and several cousins survive Mr Dawe.

He served in the US Army from January 1969 to November 1971, spending 13 months in Korea near the DMZ.

Alan was an Earlville resident for the last 25 years, and was a member of the American Legion there. He had a passion for photography, a keen interest in genealogy, and a love of books and learning. He spent several years as a cross-country truck driver seeing and exploring the country that he loved, and enjoyed sharing his tales of adventure with others.

A funeral service will take place Friday, April 11, at 11 am, in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private.
