Barn Fire Fundraiser And Collection Launched (updated)

The immediate support of neighbors, friends, clients, and even strangers has both overwhelmed and helped the family who lived at and operated their business out of the barn at Long Meadow Horse Farm for more than a decade. The barn and their home were destroyed by an early morning fire on July 11.

The Society of the Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will continue its summer series of one-day workshops next weekend. “Introduction to Oil Painting for Beginners” will be offered Saturday, July 27, from 10 am to 4 pm, with award-winning artist Lisa Wilvonseder-Greto leading the program.

Sandy Hook resident Daniel O’Donnell is seeking authorization from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to place a marked waterski course along the shore of Lake Zoar annually from May 1 to October 31. DEEP will hold a public information session on Tuesday, July 23, from 6 to 8 pm, in the Newtown Municipal Center Council Chamber, 3 Primrose Street, Fairfield Hills.
