Town Players of Newtown has scheduled auditions for its first musical, Is There Life After High School?, which the community theater group is planning to present in the autumn.

Written by Jeffrey Kindley and to be directed by Brian DeToma, the production is to be staged weekends, September 27 to October 19.

Auditions are planned for Sunday and Monday, June 30-July 1, from 7 to 9 pm both nights.

In this “memory musical,” actors play various characters remembering the joy, the laughter, and the pain of what it was like to go through high school. Charming, funny, touching, and likable, it’s a musical that wins its way by being so enjoyable.

Is There Life After High School? touches a common chord for many. Audiences can relate to it, and to the gallery of characters who inhabit it, as they look back on their high school days.

The cast calls for five men and four women, ranging from ages 20 to 45.

Those planning to audition should be prepared to sing 32 bars of a contemporary pop/Broadway song. It is also preferred that actors prepare a short 2-3 minute monologue; however, sides from the play will also be available.

Auditions will be held at The Little Theater, 18 Orchard Hill Road in Newtown.
