The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Paul Batch painting a landscape in oil on Wednesday, September 12. The program will begin at 7:30 pm and will be in the lower room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

The public is invited, free of charge.

Paul Batch is a young contemporary painter who is developing a reputation for evocative atmospheric landscapes. He captures the fleeting light cast by the passing sun or moon. He focuses on transition, moments in time: twilight, a passing storm, the moon rising.

He is a realistic painter who earned an MFA from Hartford Art School. Mr Batch’s award-winning paintings have been exhibited nationally and can be seen in various galleries throughout Connecticut.

The artist is a member of Connecticut Society of Portrait Painters, an elected artist member to the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, and an associate member of the Oil Painters of America. He has won awards at both the regional and national levels of the Oil Painters of America. His work has been published in North Light Books, Fine Art Connoisseur, The Artist’s Magazine, and International Magazine.

Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is available from Ruth Newquist at 203-426-6654 or ruthnewquist@gmail.com or online at SCANart.org.

"Lake Sunrise" is an oil painting by Paul Batch, who will return for an artist demonstration for The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown.
